Once again we will
hold our Contrary Opinion Forum at the Basin Harbor Club in Vergennes, Vermont. This year marks the
47th anniversary for this event. The picturesque and spacious facility for the
Forum is located on the eastern shore of Lake Champlain about 28 miles south of
Burlington.
Economists, investment managers and contrary-minded
individuals from all parts of the U.S., Canada and overseas gather for this
annual conference. The Forum centers around the idea of learning to think for
yourself in solving practical investment problems.

Schedule
Our opening session
is Wednesday at 9pm. The following day, Thursday, we have a full day of
speakers, but there is always plenty of time (and we encourage) question and
answer sessions with the mixing of ideas in a friendly atmosphere. Friday's
session begins with a speaker and concludes with a moderated session with an
expanded panel. The forum concludes following lunch.
Spouses are
invited to attend, and there is an abundance of alternative activities for those
not interested in Forum sessions. Please contact us if we can assist with
arrangements for outside activities. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are held in the
main dining room where portions are hearty and the food is always an epicurean
delight.
Registration Fees
The cost for the
2009 Contrary Opinion Forum includes all meetings and materials, all meals, and
two cocktail receptions, and is $695. Spouses are encouraged to join us, and
there is no additional cost for them to attend the meetings. Meals for spouses
are $265.
A discount of
$45 for early registrations is offered. Registrations paid in full by July 1,
2009 will qualify for the discount. Couples Early registration must be done
by calling our office at 802-658-0322, or email
at alex@fraser.com.
Please note that any cancellations after September
15th are subject to a 50% service charge and no refunds will be made for
cancellations after September 28th.
Accommodations
The
lovely and spacious Basin Harbor Club is located about 6 miles west of Vergennes
and 28 road miles south of Burlington. Most of our guests find it convenient to
stay with us on site. Accommodations are very comfortable and there are
wonderful views and walks. A Basin Harbor reservation form will be sent to you
if you request us to do so on your registration form. You are then able to make
lodging arrangements for yourself. However, please feel free to contact us for a
list of alternative accommodations if you so desire.

Travel
Plane service is
available direct to Burlington International Airport. Driving time is not
burdensome and the scenery on approaches from both New York and Boston is
